Shuttle Update
Shuttle Endeavour rolled out to the launch pad at 2:57 a.m. Monday morning, completing the 6.5-hour trip at 9:21 a.m. Processing operations are underway for the launch scheduled May 30, between 4 and 8 p.m. See http://mediaarchive.ksc.nasa.gov/index.cfm for more rollout photos -- click on Hot Pics.

Winners named for EEAW Contests
Congratulations to the following individuals who won the contests featured during EEAW April 22-24: Dave Fish--SGS and Larry Deel--Boeing won recyclable watches for making the closest guess of how much paper KSC recycled in 2001 -- last year 726,940 pounds. Doug Thom--Boeing won the black and white, Space Shuttle framed picture signed by our astronauts. Doug Trang--NASA, Douglas Robertson--USA, Alan Zoellner--NASA, and Janice Jackson--the Exchange Store won a Helicopter Tour of the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge conducted by the Fish and Wildlife Service. Thomas Yencso--NASA, Matthew Galloway--Dynamac, Michael Abbott--Yang, and Janet Greene--USA won the Airboat Tour of the Refuge. Eddie Bennett--USA and Rick Fisher--Boeing won two one-year Refuge Memberships. Jeff Sampson--USA won the bald cypress tree and Jewell Borden--SGS won the sea grape tree.


National Day of Prayer
The KSC National Day of Prayer Observance will be held from 11:00 a.m. to Noon, Thursday, May 2, in the KSC Training Auditorium. President Bush has proclaimed that day for people all over America to gather together to pray for our country. Come join us for singing, a live band and prayer for our nation and the space program. With supervisory permission, all KSC and CCAFS employees are invited to attend. For more information, please contact Ed Markowski, 867-0829.

The EEAW Committee thanks everyone who participated in this year's 2002 Environmental & Energy Awareness Week held April 22-24. More than 1,650 employees participated in the 2-day event held in the Industrial Area and LC-39 Area. At the well-attended Opening Ceremony April 22, five awards were presented to SGS employees David Hall, David Lambert, Andy Anderson, Freddie Furman and John Martin for their outstanding efforts on Environmental & Energy projects at KSC. Two slogan contest winners -- Shannah Trout, Dynamac, and Kandy Warren, NASA -- were given awards, and a special recognition award went to Dave Koval, SGS, for his outstanding leadership role in the Energy world at the Kickoff Ceremony. Did You Know?
The Space Flight Awareness Program will host a "Welcome Back to KSC" for the STS-109 crew at KARS 2 from 3-6 p.m. Thursday, May 2. Expected are Commander Scott Altman, Pilot Duane Carey and Mission Specialists Nancy Currie, Rick Linnehan, Mike Massimino and Jim Newman. Employees are invited to say hello to the crew and talk with them about their mission (no autographs during this event). Also, join the entire crew from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 3, in the KSC Training Auditorium to view their mission highlights tape and hear more about the mission. The crew will sign autographs if time permits.
