Expedition
5 Commander Valery Korzun and Flight Engineer Peggy Whitson stepped
outside the Pirs Docking Compartment of the International Space
Station Friday and, after moving six micrometeoroid debris shields
from a temporary stowage location, installed them on the Russian
Zvezda Service Module in a 4-hour, 25-minute spacewalk. The shields
are designed to provide debris protection for the lifetime of
the module. Future missions to the ISS will carry 17 additional
shields to complete the job.
Comprehensive
Procurement Guidelines - Buy Recycled
More and more
products are made from re-cycled materials -- from carpeting and
insulation used in office buildings, to reams of office paper.
Buying recycled helps "close the recycling loop" by
putting the materials we collect through recycling programs back
to good use as products in the marketplace. The Comprehensive
Procurement Guideline (CPG) program is part of EPA's continuing
effort to promote the use of materials recov-ered from solid waste.
Buying recycled-content products ensures that the materials collected
in recycling programs will be used again in the manufacture of
new products. The CPG program is authorized by Congress under
Sec-tion 6002 of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
and Executive Order 13101.
