Mission Update:
The STS-109 crew arrived early Monday morning to begin final preparations for launch. Countdown began at 10 a.m. Monday; daily Countdown Status Briefings are being televised daily at 9 a.m. on NASA TV until launch, which is scheduled at 6:48 a.m. EST Thursday.

Celebrating Women's History Month (March)
The Space Coast Chapter of Federally Employed Women (FEW), partnering with the Federal Women's Program Working Group, is sponsoring the 23rd Annual FEW Training Seminar on Wednesday, March 6, with an encore presentation on Thursday, March 7. Cost is $70. Registra-tion deadline is Feb. 27. Titled "Prelude to 2002 - Magic and Space - Dreams in Progress," this exceptional day of training at the Holiday Inn, Cocoa Beach, is designed to help cope with the changes and challenges that lie ahead in the workforce and in life. Being offered are two workshops; keynote speaker Nancy Lewis; luncheon speaker Andrea Shea King; and the chance to meet people from Brevard County, Kennedy Space Center, local business and service exhibitors. The KSC Scuba Diving Club. . .

Researchers using a space-age device called a bioreactor have grown patches of heart tissue that beat and respond much like a real human heart. Eventually such lab-grown "patches" could be used to repair heart defects or to replace tissue damaged in a heart attack.
