Shuttle Update
ShuttleAtlantis is on the pad. The Rotating Service Structure will be moved to the parked position on Friday for the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) hot fire. Endeavour is in the Orbiter Processing Facility (OPF) undergoing final checkouts for the STS-111 launch in May. The Integrated Hydraulic/Flight Control test and payload bay closeouts are in work. In the OPF, the payload doors of Columbia have been opened and work is underway to remove the Hubble payload components onboard. X-ray and ultra-sound testing of freon coolant loops No. 1 and No. 2 are continuing.

Blood Donor Drive
NASA has scheduled a Blood Donor Drive for March 25 to support the KSC-NASA Blood Bank. The Space Coast Blood Bank will be accepting donations on Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in a Bloodmobile located in the Headquarters Building Courtyard. If you would like to schedule a time to give, please e-mail Zidi at zgleman@cfbb.org


Call for Federal Energy and Water Management Awards
The Department of Energy in conjunction with the Federal Interagency Energy Policy Committee is now accepting nominations for the 2002 Awards Program to recognize significant contributions to the efficient use of energy and water during FY 2001. Awards will be presented to individuals, small groups of five or fewer individual members, and organizations of six or more members for outstanding accomplishments in the following categories: Energy Efficiency/ Energy Management; Innovation/Innovative New Technology; Renewable Energy; Alternative Financing Projects; Energy Efficient Mobility; Water Conservation (including beneficial landscaping practices); Effective Program Implementation and Management; and Exceptional Service Award. Guidelines, criteria and nomination forms are at http://erendev.nrel.gov/femp/prodtech/awards/awardsprog.html.
      For projects and initiatives previously submitted for local awards, the Environmental & Energy Awareness Team encourages you to submit to this call. Please forward nominations by April 26 to Kathleen Ellis (867-2002, Fax Number 867-8135) at BA-B, HQ Building/Room 2506A with a copy to Barbara Naylor at TA-C3. Kathleen will integrate all inputs and forward to the Center Director for his approval prior to submitting to NASA Headquarters/Code JE.
