Recycle Phone Books
The 2002 Telephone Book Recycling Campaign is now underway. Please recycle your outdated telephone books by placing them in the outgoing mailboxes; they will be picked up by the mail carriers. There are two bulk collection dumpsters designated for recycling your Bell South telephone books, one at the southeast end of the Headquarters Building and the other at the southwest end of the OSB Building. If you have more books than your outgoing mailbox can hold, please place them in a neat stack on the floor, table or desk next to the mailbox. Please do not put the tele-phone books in the trash - Recycle them!

Global Science & Technology Week
The Office of Science and Technology Policy of the Executive Office of the President has joined with representatives from over 27 public and private organizations to develop activities for this year's Global Science and Technology Week, April 28-May 4. This year's theme is "Science and Technology: Serving Our Global Community."

To support GSTW, NASA has created a web site designed to ignite interest in math, science and technology by highlighting the many ways our lives are enhanced by NASA Spinoffs. Check out the web site at http://education.nasa.gov/gstw2002. A flyer can be downloaded from the site to publicize the event. Visit the site and pass on a flyer to a school in your area.

Surplus Auction
An auction of surplus equipment is being held May 8, at 10 a.m., in Bldg. M6-1671, Ransom Road (off SR3). Inspection will be available Tuesday, May 7, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Auctions are primarily used to sell property in bulk quantities. The surplus equipment includes typewriters, computers, communications equipment, analyzers and more. For more information, call Sales line at 321-867-7605, or visit http://surplus.ksc.nasa.gov.

Did You Know?
The months of May through October are the prime months for sea turtles to nest along our beaches. All exterior lighting at KSC and CCAFS, not just that which directly hits the beaches, can be a distraction to these turtles causing disorientation and nest abandonment. Please take extra measures to ensure all non-essential exterior lighting is turned off. The KSC Exterior Lighting Guidelines can be reviewed on the Environmental Program Branch web site at http://environmental.ksc.nasa.gov/natural/lighting.htm. If you see any lights that you feel need to be turned off, or if you have any questions, please contact John Shaffer, NASA EPB at 867-8448.
