Mission
Update
Yesterday
the payload carrier Hitchhhiker Bridge containing the Fast Reaction
Experiments Enabling Science, Technology, Applications and Research
(FREESTAR) experiments for mission STS-107 was placed in the payload
canister for transfer to the Orbiter Processing Facility. FREESTAR
incorporates eight high-priority, secondary, attached shuttle
experiments on mission STS-107. The bridge will be installed in
Columbia's payload bay. The research mission will also carry the
SHI Research Double Module (SHI/RDM), known as SPACEHAB. Experiments
on the module range from ma-terial sciences to life sciences (many
rats). STS-107 is scheduled to launch July 19.
Crew
Presentation
The STS-110 crew will be at KSC on May 21 to talk with
employees about their mission to the International Space Station.
Their presentation will be held in the KSC Training Auditorium
from 1 - 2 p.m. Employees are encouraged to attend.

Beach
Safety
As summer approaches, we and our families will be spending more
time at the beach. Here are a few safety tips which may be helpful:
§ Check surf conditions before entering the water.
§ Protect your skin (hat, shirt, suntan lotion).
§ Look out for aquatic life (including jelly fish).
§ Drink plenty of water regularly.
§ Never fake actions or calls for help.
§ Watch for signs of heat stroke.
§ Respect other beach patrons.
§ Follow the advice of the lifeguards.
Please be cautious at the beach. If you have children, they might
not be aware of the risks.

Experts say another Leonid meteor storm is due in 2002. Rumor
has it that a glaring full Moon will ruin the display ... but
perhaps there's hope for a marvelous show, after all. Read the
