Mission
Update
During
inspections conducted Tuesday, an oxygen flex hose fitting was
identified as the source of an oxygen leak in Endeavour's mid-body.
The leak was identified using helium detectors and also could
be felt by hand. Visual inspection found a deformity in the flex
line braid where it connects to rigid tubing. The entire flex
hose assembly and bulkhead fitting were removed Wednesday, and
work is underway to complete the installation of a replacement.
International
Space Research Park Scoping Meeting - December 3
The Environmental Program Office (EPO) invites KSC employees to
an International Space Research Scoping Meeting Dec. 3, at 11
a.m. in the KSC Training Auditorium. NASA is proposing entering
into an agreement with the State of Florida, through the Florida
Space Authority, to develop an International Space Research Park
(ISRP) on the Kennedy Space Center. The goal of the park is to
provide an opportunity for appropriate commercial, research and
educational interests to develop new, state-of-the-art facilities
to promote the expanded use of space. An Environmental Impact
Statement (EIS) addressing the impacts of the proposed development
on two alternative sites on the Kennedy Space Center is being
prepared and will be discussed. A Notice of Intent (NOI) was published
Oct. 8. Employees are invited to attend this meeting, bringing
concerns, issues and questions. Check out what KSC is planning
on proposing. A web site has been established for the ISRP, http://researchpark.ksc.nasa.gov
(select the Environmental link), for your information and use.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mario Busacca,
867-8456, or Barbara Naylor, 867-8452.
