Did You Know?
How would you like for your old tires to help your garden grow, or your soda bottles to keep you cozy and warm? When you recycle these items they can be made into soaker hoses, carpeting and fleece jackets.

As part of America Recycles Day at KSC, a recycling roundup of items such as overhead transparencies and compact discs (CD's) is being sponsored. These items were chosen because they do not require any additional containers, manpower, contract modifications or logistical planning. For the next few weeks leading up to Nov. 15, please forward all over-head transparencies and outdated, landfill-bound compact discs to Mail Code: TA-C3/Hines. Please note that any CD's containing classified/sensitive information or re-usable software must be handled in accordance with stan-dard procedures for classified documents. CD's that are outdated or no longer needed may be rendered unreadable by deep scratching the data side (the shiny side without the label) with a nail, screwdriver or a similar sharp tool. Please ensure that you score your CD's before forwarding them to us.

After Nov. 15, these recyclable commodities will be shipped to the nearest recycling/reuse facility in our area. Support not only this recycling initiative, but also make your commitment to recycling by obtaining an America Recycles Day pledge card at www.americarecyclesday.org. Nationally, 6 individuals will be selected from all submitted pledge cards and the winners will receive a recycled-content prize package valued at more than $2,000.
