Bus Service Provided
Tomorrow
KSC presents a full day of presentations and exhibits to focus
attention on safety at work and home. The day's events will kick
off at 8 a.m. in the KSC Training Auditorium and will feature
John Drebinger Jr. as keynote speaker. Afternoon activities will
feature a multitude of vendors and exhibits at several locations,
astronaut appearances, and a health fair/open house at the KSC
Fitness Center.

Continuous bus service will be provided from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
to and from vendor/exhibit locations between the following sites:
§ One bus between the O&C and CCAFS Hangar T
§ One bus between the O&C and VAB
§ One bus between the VAB and O&C

Update
The TDRS-J satellite arrived at KSC Oct. 17 and is in the SAEF-2
for tests and checks. Encapsulation into the Atlas payload fairing
is scheduled to begin Nov. 7. Launch is scheduled for Nov. 20
from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The Solar Radiation and
Climate Experiment (SORCE) is scheduled to arrive at KSC next
week to begin final processing. Its launch on a Pegasus XL rocket
is scheduled for Dec. 1 from CCAFS.

In Mercury Products--Receive A Free
Digital Thermometer
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection
in conjunction with Covanta Energy Corp. is working to ensure
the safe and proper disposal of mercury-bearing products at the
end of their useful life. Representatives from FDEP and Covanta
will be at KSC for Super Safety & Health Day on Oct. 23 at
the O&C parking lot to educate employees about mercury in
the en-vironment. They will also be collecting mercury-containing
household products. Turn in your old mercury thermometer or an
old mercury-switched thermostat and receive a free digital thermometer.
The Covanta and FDEP representatives will ensure that these products
are taken to proper disposal facilities. For more information

International
Space Research Park
NASA is proposing
entering into an agreement with the State of Florida, through
the Florida Space Authority, to develop an Inter-national Space
Research Park (ISRP) on the Kennedy Space Center. An Environmental
Impact Statement (EIS) addressing the impacts of the proposed
development on two alternative sites on the Kennedy Space Center
is being prepared. You are invited to attend one or both of the
Scoping Meetings Oct. 24 to be held at the KSC Visitors Complex/Universe
Theater at 9:30 a.m. and at the Florida Solar Energy Center in
Cocoa at 7 p.m. Go to the web site established for the ISRP, http://researchpark.ksc.nasa.gov.

Stop by the SSPF cafeteria on Oct. 22 and Oct. 23 to find

day.
