Update
Expedition 5 crew members are
preparing for the arrival of the next two groups of visitors to
the International Space Station, the Soyuz 5 taxi crew and the
STS-113 Space Shuttle crew. Launching Oct. 29, the taxi crew will
bring a new Soyuz to the station Oct. 31 and remain on board the
ISS for eight days. The crew will perform science experiments
during their stay on board. Endeavour is planned to launch from
the Kennedy Space Center Nov. 10 between midnight and 4 a.m. EST.,
delivering the next segment of the Station's backbone, the P1
Truss, and the three members of Expedition 6, the next Station
crew.

Update
The TDRS-J satellite is scheduled to be launched Nov. 20 aboard
a Lockheed-Martin Atlas IIA vehicle. The Atlas stage with its
Rocketdyne MA-5A two-chamber booster engine and sustainer engine
was erected on Pad 36-A on Oct. 9. The Centaur stage with its
pair of Pratt and Whitney RL-10 engines was hoisted atop the Atlas
on Oct. 11. The initial power application to the vehicle occurred
on Monday, Oct. 14. This is the 24th and final Lockheed Martin
Atlas IIA model launch vehicle (no solid rocket boosters) and
has a 100 percent success rate.

& Energy Awareness Week Celebration
Mark your calendars for April 21-23, 2003, to attend the activities
for the Environmental & Energy Awareness Week in celebration

year's event as an exhibitor and/or presenter, the EEAW committee

Vendor Day
A KSC Employee
Vendor Day will be held in the lobby of the KSC Headquarters Building
on Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Representatives
of AT&T Wireless, Cingular Wireless, and Metrocall Paging
will be available to answer questions and provide information
on new cellular and paging technology in the ever-changing industry.

Reminder
The KSC Fitness Centers will be sponsoring the
Intercenter Walk / Run today at the Shuttle Landing Facility.
The 2-mile walk/run, 5K and 10K are FREE for all KSC/CCAFS employees.
Late registration will take place at the race -- please arrive
by 4:15 p.m. It's not too late to order a t-shirt at any NASA
exchange store.

Screening For Breast Cancer Is Coming This
Week. The Women's Center for Radiology (WCR) will
have their Mobile Mammography Unit at KSC (SW corner of
the parking lot behind HQ Building), on Wednesday, Oct.
30, in conjunction with the Special Cardiovascular Disease
Screening at the O&C Exercise Facility. WCR is accredited
in mammography by the American College of Radiology and
all mammograms are interpreted by Radiologists. Insurance
can be filed. Call 1-800-367-1870 for an appointment and
more information. If you have any questions, please call
