Update
Ten
days are left until the next Shuttle launch of Endeavour on mission
STS-113, Nov. 10. In Shuttle history to date, 133 spacewalks have
been made by U.S. astronauts, 46 of them for ISS assembly and
maintenance. Total EVA time on the Space Shuttle is 471 hours,
45 minutes. EVA time on the International Space Station totals
285 hours, 25 minutes. Mission STS-113 will add three spacewalks
about 6.5 hours each to the list as Mission Specialists Michael
Lopez-Alegria and John Herrington attach the first port-side truss,
P1, to the Station.

Financial Training
To ensure NASA personnel impacted by Core Financial are able to
perform their roles by "Go Live" (Feb. 3, 2003), instructor-led
training will be offered Nov. 19 - Jan. 31. Those who are also

The University of Miami is offering a Master's Degree in Management
of Technology (MSMOT). Applications are currently being accepted
for the program beginning January/February 2003. Courses are held
Friday evenings and Saturdays to accommodate working professionals.

Call -- 40th Space Congress Papers And Presentations
The 40th Space Congress, sponsored by the Canaveral Council of
Technical Societies, will be held in Cape Canaveral April 29 -
May 1, 2003. This congress is a gathering of a significant portion
of the aerospace community to discuss the status and future of
space activities around the world. The theme of this year's Congress
is "Linking The Past To The Future -- A Celebration Of Space."
The 40th Space Congress invites individuals from the U.S. and
international communities wishing to offer papers and presentations
to submit a 200-word abstract electronically no later than Nov.

To Tour Atlas V VIF Air Conditioning Shelter
The VIF Air Conditioning Shelter (ACS) contains the Central Chiller
Plant for all air conditioning demand for the VIF facility and
the Lockheed Martin Atlas V launch vehicle Environmental Control
Systems (ECS). The ECS primary air processing equipment is located
in the ACS and the vehicle air is ducted to the VIF and through
the Mobile Launch Platform (MLP) to the vehicle. The tours are
scheduled for 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Oct. 31, lasting no more than
an hour. As space is limited, sign up by contacting Melanie Clegg,

must have your supervisor's approval to attend.
Did You Know?
The arrival to the ISS of a modernized
Russian Soyuz crew-return vehicle will be covered live
on NASA TV Oct. 31-Nov. 1. The undocking of the currently
attached crew-return vehicle will be carried live Nov.
