One NASA--September 11 Memorial
A NASA-wide memorial on September 11 will originate from NASA Headquarters and will be carried live on NASA TV. Seat allocations to view the coverage at the KSC Training Auditorium will be issued to NASA Directorates and some of the contractors.

NASA TV coverage begins at 10:25 a.m.. NASA Administrator Sean O'Keefe will ask all Centers to observe a moment of silence, beginning at 10:29 a.m., with New York City. At 10:32 a.m. O'Keefe will lead the Pledge of Allegiance and give remarks. Following will be a video compilation "How NASA Helped" and then remarks from astronaut Frank Culbertson. The program will conclude with the singing of the National Anthem.

Mission Update
The payload for Mission STS-112, the S1 truss, was moved to the pad last week. It will eventually be transferred to Atlantis' payload bay. The first starboard truss segment, the S1 will be attached to the central truss segment, the S0 truss, on the International Space Station during mission STS-112. Atlantis is scheduled to launch no earlier than Oct. 2.

New Gates Going Up
The construction of two new gates on SR 3 and SR 405 is now under way. The signs on either side of the construction area require that vehicles reduce their speed to 35 miles per hour. The hours of work will be nonpeak times between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. The contractor is asking that all drivers please cooperate with the reduced speed to prevent any accidents from happening. At times workers will be extremely close to the traffic lane in order to do the required work. The points of contact for questions or problems with this work site are Jim Belote, 867-3476, or Jim Lorence, 867-9293, Civil Engineering Branch. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
