Columbia
Reconstruction Hangar Walkthrough
The tragedy of Columbia has impacted the Kennedy Space Center
family in a profound way. To honor our fallen heroes and the KSC
employees who have worked so diligently before and after the accident,
Center Director Roy Bridges Jr. has asked for all KSC employees,
NASA and contractor, to have an opportunity to view the Columbia
Reconstruction Hangar. The week of July 7-12 will be set aside
for this purpose. On Monday-Wednesday, badged employees
only will be able to walk through the Hangar, and on Thursday-Saturday,
badged employees may bring their immediate families (up
to 4 guests, must be age 12 or older) to view the Hangar. Due
to the high volume of traffic expected each day, transportation
will be by bus ONLY. In fairness to all employees, the walkthrough
must be done on personal time or approved leave by the supervisor.
Further details will be provided in the near future as to bus
schedules, pick-up locations, etc.
All
KSC employees are invited
to the KSC's BEST BBQ
Hosted by the Black Employee Strategy Team, the barbecue will
be held July 11, from 3-6 p.m. at KARS II. Tickets are $5 and

UCF
wants to know: Why engineering?
UCF
is conducting a pilot test of surveying engineers to determine
what motivated you to become an engineer. Your responses will
ultimately help UCF develop information for educators to use in
assisting students to realize career opportunities. If you are
interested in participating, please e-mail Patricia.j.gillis@nasa.gov
for the web site and code. The web site will be closed after
July 3, so act now!

Lightning
is the #1 weather killer in Florida, killing more than
tornadoes or hurricanes.
Lightning also inflicts life-long debilitating injuries
on many more than it kills. During lightning season (May-September)
you should know that lightning kills by cardiac arrest
or the resultant stop of breathing. Recommended first
aid: Call 9-1-1, apply CPR or rescue breathing if you
have been trained to do so. For lightning safety training,
please call 45 WS at 853-8410, or Spaceport Emer-gency
Preparedness at 853-6861.
