Before
Amelia Earhart, it was Harriet Quimby (http://www.ibiscom.com/quimby.htm)
who captured the public's imagination as America's premier
aviatrix. Born in 1875, Harriet began her lessons in 1911,
becoming the first woman to begin flight training. Harriet
proved she had a natural flying ability, excelled in her
training and earned her pilot's license the same year
-- assuring her fame and assuming the title "America's
