destacked
On Tuesday, May 20, the external tank in the Vehicle Assembly
Building was destacked in anticipation of destacking the solid
rocket boosters later in the year. The external tank will remain
in the VAB.
ELV
Update
The
third stage of the Delta II rocket (left) arrived at the PHSF
Tuesday and is scheduled to be mated to the Mars Exploration Rover
2 (MER-2) tomorrow and moved to the launch pad May 27. MER-1 will
undergo spin balance testing May 29, and is scheduled for mating
to the Delta third stage June 14, and transportation to the launch
pad June 15.
Setting
the Groundwork for a Successful Summer Program
The first annual NASA/Contractor Mentor/Colleague Seminar will
be held Wednesday, May 28, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the KSC Training
Auditorium. Current and future mentors, colleagues, Administrative
Officers and supervisors are strongly encouraged to attend. Whether
you're interested in mentoring, partnering or enhancing your professional
relationships, you'll benefit from this power-packed session that
will be invaluable to your work. If you have any questions, please

Save energy
You can help
KSC/CCAFS save energy dollars over the Memorial Day holiday, May
26! It takes commitment from everyone at Spaceport to help KSC and
CCAFS save energy dollars; therefore, please remember to:
- Turn off your computer, monitor, and printer (if not
required to remain on).
- Turn off the lights in your office when you are the last person
to leave.
- Turn off the hall and hall closet lights on your way out,
if you are the last person to leave your area in the building.
- Turn off displays and decorative lights.
- Turn off or unplug any appliances in the office, such as
coffee makers, desk lamps, fans, radios, etc.
- Turn off the copier machines (including hallways) and scanners.
- Close the blinds on all windows.
NASA-aided

Coral reefs are important to our planet's ecosystem, yet they're
endangered. The International Space Station is a good place to
study coral reefs and the problems they face. For a picture and

The
International Space Station currently comprises 15 elements
on orbit. The Canadarm2 is the longest at 58 feet; the
S1 and P1 trusses are next at 45 feet each; the S1 truss
is 44 feet; the Zvezda module is 43 feet. Total length
of the ISS to date is 171 feet; total width is 240 feet.
