MLP test roll
The
Mobile Launcher Platform with SRBs on top rolled out of the VAB
last week to gather vibration data to develop future maintenance
requirements on the transport equipment and the flight hardware.
Enough data was collected in two trips to eliminate the need for
a third test.

Energy
Conservation
Here is a simple checklist of energy conservation/efficiency
measures to use at home:
• Turn down the temperature of your water heater to the
warm setting (120° F). You will not only save energy, you
will avoid scalding your hands.
• Check if your water heater has an insulating blanket;
it will pay for itself in one year or less!
• If you have one of those silent energy guzzlers —
a waterbed — make your bed today. The covers will in-sulate
it and save up to one-third of the energy it uses.
• Start using energy-saving settings on refrigerators, dishwashers,
washing machines and clothes dryers.
• Survey your incandescent lights for opportunities to replace
them with compact fluorescents. These new lamps can save three-quarters
of the electricity used by incandescent bulbs. The best targets
are 60W -100W bulbs that are used several hours a day. Meas-ure
the clearance in the fixtures to make sure they will accommodate
compact fluorescents, which are slightly bigger than incandescent.
• Check the age and condition of your major appli-ances,
especially the refrigerator. You may want to re-place it with
a more energy-efficient model before it dies.
• Clean or replace furnace, air-conditioner and heat-pump
filters.
