Make
A Difference Day
Center
Director Jim Kennedy encourages participation in this year's Make
a Difference Day, Oct. 24 - 25. NASA employees are allowed up
to 4 hours of administrative leave on Friday, Oct. 24, with their
supervisor’s approval. This year’s Make a Difference
Day is sponsored by United Way of Brevard County and many other
local businesses such as Florida Today, Publix, Ron Jon’s
and Riverside Bank. It is the largest volunteer service effort
that provides employees with an increased awareness of the needs
of the Brevard community. Last year, volunteers from 32 companies
and organizations created a force of 950 dedicated individuals
who completed 62 community service projects. You can review available

Environmental
& Energy Slogan Contest (EEAW 2004)
The Environmental
& Energy Awareness (EEAW) Committee is conducting the 2004
Slogan Contest during the month of October 2003. Please submit
your slogan at http://apps1.ksc.nasa.gov/eeawslogan/index.cfm/

The
contest is open to all KSC civil service and contractor employees.
One entry per employee, no more than 50 characters in length (including
spaces), which should reflect the goals for Environmental &
Energy Awareness. If you have problems with the link, please contact

The contest will end Oct. 22. The EEAW Committee will review all
nominations before the KSC voting begins. Voting will take place
Oct. 27 through the Nov. 7. Winner will be approved by management,
announced during the month of November 2003, and be recognized
at the Environmental and Energy Awareness Week celebration in
April 2004.
Make a difference by sharing your pantry
with those less fortunate
Space Coast Chapter of Federally Employed Women (FEW) will be
coordinating the collection of food staples and personal items
to deliver to the Central Brevard Sharing Center on Friday, Oct.
24. Types of items needed are canned soup, canned vegetables,
canned meat, peanut butter, jelly, macaroni and cheese, packaged
rice meals, etc.; plus personal items such as toothpaste/toothbrushes,
shampoo and cream rinse, all kinds of soap, shaving cream and
razors and other personal care items. FEW members are located
all over the Center and boxes have been set up. If there are any

Did
You Know ?
Construction on the Indian River bridge – Last
week construction began on the Indian River bridges (NASA
Parkway) to replace bridge bearing pads. The work began
on the northside bridge, closing the two lanes from 8 a.m.
to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, for the next five to six
weeks. Traffic will be confined to the southside bridge,
one lane in each direction. Once the work on the northside
bridge is complete, the work will be performed on Indian
River southside bridge and the open lanes will shift to
the northside bridge. To ensure the workers’ and your
safety, please be extra careful and observe and abide by
posted speed limits and construction directional signs.
Security is being requested to support the work site as
much as possible and speeding fines will be doubled if workers
are present. If you have any questions or comments, please
