Federal Campaign
poised for kickoff Oct. 1

Kickoff Rally
This year’s Combined Federal Campaign will begin with a
Kickoff Rally hosted by KSC Center Director James Kennedy on Wednesday,
Oct. 1, at 9 a.m., in the KSC Training Auditorium. Featured guests
will be “Remember Me,: a gospel quartet who will sing the
National Anthem; Rob Rains, president, United Way of Brevard County;
Ed Mango, who led the STS-107 recovery effort in Texas; Sam Haddad,
who will sing “God Bless the USA”; John Shaffer, who
will give personal testimony of support received from United Way
Agencies in support of his young son. And finally, a group of
four year olds from the KSC Child Development Center will entertain
everyone with their version of “Rockin’ Robin!”
Come out and join us as we learn more about the local, national
and international agencies that make up this year’s campaign.
For those who cannot attend in person, the Rally will be broadcast
on NASA TV, Channel 7.
ELV Update
Upcoming
on the Gravity Probe B launch preparations is the attachment of
the nine strap-on solid rocket boosters in sets of three scheduled
for Oct. 6-8. Other upcoming spacecraft activities include electrical
testing scheduled for Oct. 8, integrated testing of the vehicle
Oct. 14, ordnance installation scheduled for Oct. 20-24, solar
array installation scheduled to begin Oct. 27 and guidance and
control system checks Oct. 29.

To celebrate the Agency’s 45th anniversary, NASA Administrator
Sean O’Keefe is holding a NASA update. Watch NASA TV Oct.
1 at 1 p.m. to hear him discuss where NASA is now and what’s

Environmental & Energy Awareness planning
meeting Oct. 3
The Environmental & Energy Awareness Team is ready to plan
the 2004 activities for next year's EEAW celebration of Earth
Day. If you would like to participate in the planning activities,
join the team Oct. 3, at 1 p.m., in the O&C Building/Room
1055. Your help and new ideas will make next year another success!

CCAFS
Perimeter Gate construction project
underway
Construction was scheduled to begin Sept. 29 at CCAFS Main
Gate. It is expected that construction will continue through mid-February
2004. There will be two inbound and outbound lanes during peak
traffic; however, lanes will shift. Expect delays. Alternate routes
through KSC are advised. For more information, please call Jim

The University
of Miami will begin accepting applications for the Master of Science
in Management of Technology (MSMOT) starting in January 2004 for
the spring 2003-2004 semester. Courses are held Friday evenings
and Saturdays to accommodate working professionals. For more information
