In the Operations and Checkout (O&C) building today, the Russian MIR-2 Docking Module was removed from the payload canister and placed in the Cargo Integrated Test Equipment (CITE) stand for upcoming electrical testing and final preparations. The module was transported from the Space Station Processing Facility to the O&C yesterday.

The Interface Verification Test (IVT), an electrical test, will be performed in two parts on Aug. 28 and Aug. 30. This test will verify the compatibility and readiness of the MIR-2 Docking Module to be integrated with the Space Shuttle Atlantis.

The module will reinstalled into the payload canister on Sept. 5. Transportation to the Orbiter Processing Facility will occur on Sept. 7 for installation into Atlantis’ payload bay.
