KSC SPACE SHUTTLE STATUS REPORT Wednesday, August 9, 1995 Vehicle: OV-105/Endeavour Mission number: STS-69 Location: VAB High Bay 1 Primary payload: Wake Shield Facility/Spartan 201-3 Astronauts: 5 Orbital altitude: 230 statute miles Inclination: 28.45 degrees Mission Duration: 10 days, 20 hours, 29 minutes Launch date: late August Landing date: TBD STS-69 IN WORK: · Pad umbilical connections and validations · Scaffolding build-up for upcoming solid rocket booster work STS-69 WORK SCHEDULED: · Main engine frequency response test (Thursday) · Begin solid rocket booster work by removing nozzle throat plugs (Friday) STS-69 WORK COMPLETED: · Rollout to Pad A · Closure of rotating service structure Columbia/OV-102 (STS-73) U.S. Microgravity Laboratory-2 OPF Bay 3 Testing of the Ku-band communications and radar system continues and will be completed tonight. USML module closeouts have been completed and the payload bay doors are planned for closure overnight. Preparations are underway for removing Columbia’s #2 main engine which is scheduled for Sunday. Engine re-installation is scheduled for Monday. Aft main engine compartment closeouts in preparation for Columbia’s rollover to the Vehicle Assembly Building are continuing. Rollover is currently planned for Aug. 21 with rollout from the VAB to Pad 39-B on Aug. 28. TCDT is planned for Sept. 1. Atlantis/OV-104 (STS-74) Russian Docking Module OPF Bay 2 The orbiter’s TACAN and S-band communications systems are being tested today. Functional tests of the orbital maneuvering system and the auxiliary power units are continuing. The forward reaction control system has been removed and is scheduled to be taken to the hypergolic maintenance facility tonight. In the Vehicle Assembly Building, stacking of the STS-74 solid rocket boosters is underway. Also, modifications to the orbiter docking system electrical system are being performed. In the Space Station Processing Facility, pressure testing of the Russian Docking Module has been completed and closeouts are beginning in preparation for moving the module to the Operations and Checkout building next week. Discovery/OV-103 (ferry flight preparations) OPF Bay 1 Preparations for removing the three main engines are underway. Discovery’s 747 ferry flight to Palmdale is planned for Oct. 1.
