NOTE: Work to install the nozzle plugs on the solid rocket boosters
was delayed due to high winds associated with Tropical Storm Jerry.
Work is scheduled to begin later today as the storm continues to
drift to the northwest. Once the plugs are installed a 24-hour cure
period will begin. A delta flight readiness review for mission STS-69
is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday to discuss the success of the booster
operations and to determine a firm launch date.

NOTE: Today in the Orbiter Processing Facility, efforts are underway
to remove and replace three thrusters on the right hand orbital
maneuvering system pod. The bay will be cleared for about 48 hours
for this hazardous operation. In the Operations and Checkout Building
high bay, engineers are conducting an interface verification test
dry- run on the Russian Mir-2 Docking Module.

DISCOVERY/OV-103 -- Pre-Orbiter Maintenance Down Period

VEHICLE: Discovery/OV-103
LOCATION: Orbiter Processing Facility bay 1
TARGET DATE OF DEPARTURE FOR PALMDALE FOR OMDP: Sept. 26

NOTE: Discovery is scheduled to be delivered to Palmdale, Calif., for
a nine-month Orbiter Maintenance Down Period (OMDP). During this
time, the vehicle will be outfitted with a 5th set of cryogenic tanks
and an external airlock to support missions to the international
Space Station. Discovery is scheduled to depart Kennedy Space Center
via the 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft on Sept. 26. Discovery’s next
flight, the second mission to service the Hubble Space Telescope, is
targeted for launch in early 1997.
