STS-72 IN WORK TODAY:

STS-75/OV-102 Columbia
OPF Bay 2

	The USML-2 laboratory has been removed from the payload bay
and returned to the Operations and Checkout Building for
deintegration.  Removal of the Spacelab tunnel adapter is underway
today.  Window inspection and evaluation is underway.  At this time a
tentative decision has been made to remove and replace window No. 1. 
Preparations are underway for the upcoming orbiter hypergolic fuel
deservicing.


STS-74/OV-104 Atlantis
(on-orbit)

	The liftoff of Space Shuttle Atlantis occurred at the opening
of the launch window as desired.  The official liftoff time from Pad
39-A was 07:30:43.071 a.m. EST.   The initial evaluation of the
performance data from the three main engines and two solid rocket
boosters has shown nominal performance with no apparent concerns. 
Launch damage at the pad was not unusual.  Offshore, the sea
conditions for solid rocket booster recovery were 7 - 10 feet and the
booster recovery operations by the ships Liberty and Freedom went
well.  The boosters are currently in tow and are expected at the Port
Canaveral Jetty at 3 p.m. EST.
