KENNEDY SPACE CENTER SPACE SHUTTLE STATUS REPORT FERRY FLIGHT UPDATE April 11, 1996 3:09 PM Atlantis ferry flight status #2 The orbiter Atlantis atop the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft departed Edwards Air Force Base, Calif. at 12 noon EDT and arrived at Davis-Monthan AFB, Tucson, Az. at 1:20 p.m. EDT. The SCA was refueled and departed Davis-Monthan at about 2:57 p.m. en route to Dyess AFB, Abilene, Tx. The flight is expected to take less than 2 hours, depending on tail winds. At Dyess, a decision will be made whether or not to continue further east, with Columbus AFB, Miss. the most likely location for an overnight stay. The earliest we expect to see the vehicle back at KSC remains to be about mid-morning Friday. Bruce Buckingham NASA KSC Newsroom
