      KENNEDY SPACE CENTER SPACE SHUTTLE STATUS REPORT THURSDAY, JANUARY 11, 1996 (5:53 AM EST) MISSION: STS-72 -- SFU-Retrieval & OAST-Flyer LAUNCH DAY VEHICLE: Endeavour/OV-105 LOCATION: Orbit LAUNCH DATE/TIME: Jan. 11 at 4:41 a.m. EST TARGET KSC LANDING DATE/TIME: Jan. 20 at about 3:03 a.m. MISSION DURATION: 8 days, 22 hours, 22 minutes CREW SIZE: 6 ORBITAL ALTITUDE and INCLINATION: 288 statute miles/28.45 degrees NOTE: The Space Shuttle Endeavour on mission STS-72 was successfully launched today from KSC at 4:41 a.m. eastern time on a 9-day mission to retrieve a Japanese satellite. Launch occurred about 23 minutes later than planned due to communications problems. Otherwise, launch from Pad 39B went without any serious technical problems. Rendezvous with the SFU satellite is set to occur on Saturday, Jan. 13. Atlantis is scheduled to land at KSC on Saturday, Jan. 20 at about 3 a.m. The STS-72 crew are: Commander Brian Duffy, Pilot Brent Jett, and Mission Specialists Leroy Chiao, Daniel Barry, Winston Scott, and representing the National Space Development Agency of Japan, Koichi Wakata.
