The left forward center booster segment mate is complete. Left aft joint leak checks are complete and left center leak checks are in work. The left booster stack will be complete by the end of this week and work on the right booster will begin next week. KEY OPERATIONAL MILESTONES (dates are target only): * Mate external tank to solid rocket boosters (Aug. 1) * Mate orbiter to external tank (Aug. 13) * Roll out to Pad 39A (Aug. 20) * Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test (Aug. 28 & 29) MISSION: STS-80 -- WAKE SHIELD FACILITY-3 and ORFEUS-SPAS-2 VEHICLE: Columbia/OV-102 LOCATION: Orbiter Processing Facility bay 1 TARGET LAUNCH DATE: Oct. 31, at 2:40 p.m. EDT (one week threat to schedule) TARGET KSC LANDING DATE: Nov. 16, at 7:25 a.m. EDT MISSION DURATION: 16 days CREW SIZE: 5 ORBITAL ALTITUDE and INCLINATION: 218 statute miles/28.45 degrees NOTE: The forward reaction control system functional checkout is in work. Removal of the tunnel adapter is complete. KEY OPERATIONAL MILESTONES (dates are target only): * Removal of auxiliary power unit No.1 (July 26) * Begin removing Space Shuttle main engines (July 30) MISSION: STS-82 -- HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE SERVICING MISSION-2 VEHICLE: Discovery/OV-103 LOCATION: Orbiter Processing Facility bay 2 TARGET LAUNCH DATE: Feb. 13, 1997 LAUNCH WINDOW: 61 minutes TARGET LANDING DATE: Feb. 23, 1997 MISSION DURATION: 9 days, 22 hours CREW SIZE: 7 ORBITAL ALTITUDE and INCLINATION: 360 statute miles/28.45 degrees NOTE: Receiving inspection continues. Installation of radar altimeters 1 and 2 is complete. Tomorrow Discovery’s hydraulic system will be powered up for the first time since its return from Palmdale, CA. Preparations are in work for main propulsion system tests. Work to remove and replace window 6 is complete. PREPARATIONS FOR ORBITER MAINTENANCE DOWN PERIOD VEHICLE: Endeavour/OV-105 LOCATION: Orbiter Processing Facility bay 3 NOTE: Preparations continue for transfer of Endeavour to Palmdale, CA for its first Orbiter Maintenance Down Period. Installation of the forward reaction control system is in work. The left orbital maneuvering system simulator pod will be installed today and the right simulator pod will be installed tomorrow. Payload bay doors will be closed today. KEY PRE-OMDP OPERATIONAL MILESTONES (dates are target only): * Final payload bay closure (today) * Tail cone installation (July 23) * Rollover to Shuttle Landing Facility (July 29) * Depart KSC for ferry flight to Palmdale, CA (July 30)
