The countdown for launch began on time today at 4 a.m. at the T-43 hour mark. Preparations are now in work to prepare the vehicle for loading cryogenic reactants into the power reactant storage and distribution system and the extended duration orbiter pallet. Reactant loading is scheduled to begin at midnight tonight and last for about 12 hours. The crew of mission STS-78 will arrive at KSC at about 3:30 p.m. today. Weather forecasters are currently indicating a 60 percent chance of weather violating launch constraints Thursday morning.
