Work is underway to destow experiments from the orbiter's mid-deck and from the Spacehab module located in the orbiter's payload bay. The vehicle will be towed to OPF bay 3 beginning at about 4 p.m. today. Once in the OPF, post-flight deservicing will begin and preparations made for the scheduled Orbiter Maintenance Down Period (OMDP) to begin in about 60 days. Preliminary post-landing inspections of Endeavour reveal the tires and brakes to be in good condition. Initial tile assessments indicates normal wear. Touchdown times are as follows: MAIN GEAR TOUCHDOWN: 10:00:30:18 MET 7:09:18 a.m. EDT NOSE GEAR TOUCHDOWN: 10:00:39:33 MET 7:09:33 a.m. EDT WHEELS STOP: 10:00:40:10 MET 7:10:10 a.m. EDT Endeavour landed on orbit 161 after traveling 4.1 million miles in orbit on mission STS-77. This was the 30th KSC landing in the history of the Shuttle program. MISSION: STS-78 -- LIFE AND MICROGRAVITY SPACELAB (LMS) VEHICLE: Columbia/OV-102 LOCATION: Vehicle Assembly Building TARGET LAUNCH DATE/TIME: June 20 at about 10:49 a.m. (EDT) LAUNCH WINDOW: 2 hours, 30 minutes TARGET KSC LANDING DATE/TIME: July 7 at about 8:39 a.m. MISSION DURATION: 15 days, 22 hours (+1 day) CREW SIZE: 7 ORBITAL ALTITUDE and INCLINATION: 173 statute miles/39 degrees NOTE: The Shuttle Columbia is scheduled to begin its rollout to Pad 39B at 11 p.m. today. The Shuttle will be hard-down on the pad at about 5:30 a.m. tomorrow. Once at the pad, the Rotating Service Structure will be placed around the vehicle at about 8 a.m. and pad validations will begin. Also, preparations to perform the main engine flight readiness test will commence. KEY STS-78 OPERATIONAL MILESTONES (dates are target only): Rollout to Pad 39B. First motion set for 11 p.m., today Main engine flight readiness test (Friday-Saturday) Helium signature test (Monday-Tuesday) Crew arrival for Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test (9:30 a.m. Monday) Launch Readiness Review (Monday) Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test (June 4-5) Flight Readiness Review (June 6) MISSION: STS-79 -- 4th MIR DOCKING VEHICLE: Atlantis/OV-104 LOCATION: Orbiter Processing Facility bay 1 TARGET LAUNCH DATE: July 31 at about 11:42 p.m. (EDT) LAUNCH WINDOW: 7-10 minutes TARGET KSC LANDING DATE: August 9 at about 8:17 p.m. MISSION DURATION: 8 days, 20 hours, 35 minutes CREW SIZE: 6 ORBITAL ALTITUDE and INCLINATION: 196-245 statute miles/51.6 degrees NOTE: Operations to remove and replace six thrusters on the orbiter's reaction control system were conducted last week. Additional closed-bay work is expected to be conducted off and on through most of this week. The Space Shuttle main engines will be installed beginning Friday. In the Vehicle Assembly Building, stacking of the solid rocket boosters continues.
