Preliminary post landing inspections revealed the orbiter's lower surface sustained a total of 61 debris hits, of which eight had a dimension of 1-inch or larger. The tires and brakes are reported to be in average condition. Trouble-shooting continues today on the auxiliary power unit that failed after launch. The unit's controller passed a diagnostic test this weekend. Saturday morning as workers were gaining initial access to the aft engine compartment for post-flight inspections, a 1/16-inch Allen wrench was discovered on the floor of the left rear section of the aft compartment. The wrench, which measures about 2 inches long with a 1/2-inch "L", bears no discernible markings and is believed to have flown in the aft during the last mission.
