      NOTE: The Space Shuttle Discovery continues to perform very well on orbit and mission managers are not working any significant problems. Science investigations are proceeding successfully.

      At Hangar AF, inspections of the STS-85 solid rocket boosters continue. The solid rocket motor nozzles are slated for shipment later this week and should arrive in Utah early next week.

      NOTE: In the Vehicle Assembly Building, Atlantis is soft mated to the external tank. Hard mate will occur today and umbilical mate activities are slated for tonight. The Shuttle Interface Test is slated for Wednesday evening. Atlantis is scheduled to roll out to the launch pad at 2 a.m. next Monday.

      • CREW: Kregel, Lindsey, Scott, Chawla, Doi, Kadenyuk
      • ORBITAL ALTITUDE and INCLINATION: 150 nautical miles/28.45 degrees

      NOTE: After evaluating Columbia's fuel cell No. 1, engineers determined that the fuel cell is good and will fly on STS-87. Fuel cell No. 3, however, may need a cell performance monitor replaced before launch. Functional testing of the Shuttle's aft and main propulsion systems continue through this week. Technicians expect to finish draining the orbiter's oxidizer cross-feed line by next week. Once that work is complete, they will locate and repair a leak in the same line.

      • Power reactant storage and distribution system testing (Aug. 20)
