      NOTE: At the launch pad, Atlantis is undergoing ball seal and helium signature leak checks today. The payload bay doors were closed yesterday as preparations continue for next week's loading of hypergolic reactants. Solid rocket booster hydraulic testing is complete and SRB close-outs are now in work. The Orbiter Midbody Umbilical Unit will be mated Aug. 29 and the Spacehab payload will be transferred to the pad Sept. 3.

      NOTE: Yesterday, a new section of line was installed on Columbia's oxidizer cross-feed line. Failure analysis of the damaged section is under way. The auxiliary power units are undergoing leak and functional tests through next week. Preparations are in work for drag chute installation, set to occur Monday. Reservicing of Columbia's freon coolant loop No. 2 and midbody fuel cell monitoring modifications begin next week.

      NOTE: Testing of the power drive units on Endeavour's external tank doors concludes today. Flushing of the orbiter's ammonia boiler is set for Saturday. Elevon cove modifications are complete and close-outs of that area will conclude next week. Window polishing continues. Installation of fuel cell No. 3 is slated for next week.

      NOTE: Crew module destow activities are complete. Discovery's payload bay doors will be opened today and the payload will be removed early next week. Technicians are gaining access to the orbiter's aft compartment today.
