      NOTE: Launch pad validations have been in work since Shuttle Endeavour’s arrival at Pad 39A last Friday. On Saturday, the SPACEHAB payload was installed in the orbiter’s cargo bay and the doors were closed on Sunday morning. Workers completed the main engine flight readiness test, and main engine ball seal leak checks are in work today. This evening work begins to prepare the Shuttle for the holiday downtime period.

      NOTE: Functional tests on Columbia’s forward reaction control system are complete. Yesterday, waterproofing efforts began and will continue through tomorrow. No work is scheduled on Columbia over the holidays.

      NOTE: Functional tests on the orbiter maneuvering system are nearing completion. Fuel cell monitoring modifications proceed with installation of pulse code modulators that will process the data stream from each of the 288 individual fuel cell outputs. There are 96 individual "substacks" or outputs for each of the three fuel cells onboard an orbiter. Body flap corrosion repairs also continue and aft flight deck reconfiguration is under way. Technicians continue to prepare Discovery for the holiday downtime.
