NOTE: Over the weekend, workers successfully removed and replaced the solid rocket booster nozzle plugs from the SRBs at the pad. Electrical hook-ups of the mission payloads are complete and cryogenic cooling of the Near Infrared Camera and Multi-Object Spectrometer (NICMOS) will continue through Wednesday morning. The payload interface verification test will begin this afternoon and the payload end-to-end test will start tomorrow. Aft engine compartment close-outs continue in work this week. The crew is scheduled to arrive at KSC Friday morning and the countdown is set to begin Saturday.

NOTE: Installation of the Space Shuttle main engines was completed this weekend. Also, the Microgravity Science Laboratory was installed into the payload bay on Saturday. Tunnel adapter installation is currently on hold pending engineering evaluation of a small dent found in a coolant tube in the payload bay. The right hand orbital maneuvering system pod has been delivered to the OPF and will be installed on the orbiter tomorrow.

NOTE: Preparations continue to remove and replace auxiliary power unit (APU) No. 3. Over the weekend, the unit was disconnected and residual hypergolic reactants drained from the lines. The APU is scheduled to be replaced on Wednesday. Removal of the three Space Shuttle main engines is underway today and will be complete tomorrow. A functional check of the forward reaction control system is also in work in the OPF. Stacking of the solid rocket boosters for mission STS-84 has also begun in the VAB.

STS-84 SCHEDULED OPERATIONAL MILESTONES (dates are target only):

• Remove and replace APU No. 3 (Wednesday/Thursday)
• Remove forward reaction control system (Feb. 8)
