
NOTE: Inspections of the lock-wires on the Space Shuttle main engine bolts and joints are complete on all of the accessible areas. Managers today decided the current configuration is safe to fly as is; however, this issue will be briefed to the Mission Management Team at the L-2 day briefing on Sunday. Today at the pad, ordnance installation and pressurization of the reaction control system is in work. Following these operations, the pad will be reopened and aft engine compartment close-outs will continue. The aft doors are scheduled to be installed Saturday. The payload bay doors will be closed for flight Friday night. The crew is scheduled to arrive at KSC Friday morning and the countdown is set to begin at 4 a.m. Saturday.
STS-82 SCHEDULED OPERATIONAL MILESTONES (dates are target only):
NOTE: The tunnel adapter was installed yesterday. The interface verification test for the Microgravity Science Laboratory continues today and is expected to be complete tonight. The right hand orbital maneuvering system pod is scheduled for installation tomorrow.
STS-83 SCHEDULED OPERATIONAL MILESTONES (dates are target only):
NOTE: Functional checks of the forward reaction control system (FRCS) are complete. Removal of the FRCS is scheduled for this weekend. The payload bay door radiators are undergoing functional checks today. The left hand orbital maneuvering system pod is scheduled for a functional check on Friday. Auxiliary power unit No. 3 is scheduled to be removed and replaced on Monday. Stacking of the solid rocket boosters for mission STS-84 continues in the VAB.
