      NOTE: The solid rocket booster retrieval ship Freedom, towing Discovery's right booster, arrived at the Hangar AF Booster Disassembly Facility on Cape Canaveral Air Station at 10:15 a.m. this morning. Liberty, towing the left booster, arrived at 11:30 a.m.

      The No. 3 parachute from the left booster sank during retrieval operations and could not be recovered.

      At launch pad 39-A, no unusual damage to the mobile launcher platform or the pad facilities has been noted. Preparations are beginning to transport the mobile launcher platform to the Vehicle Assembly Building next Tuesday.

      NOTE: Installation of the auxiliary power units has been completed. Installation of the brakes, wheels and tires is underway today. Also in work is a leak and functional test of the main propulsion system. Maintenance of the thermal protection system and waterproofing of the tiles continues. A test of the radar altimeter is scheduled for Thursday. Maintenance of the payload bay floodlight system will begin on Friday. Following post mission functional checks, preparations will begin for removal of the orbital maneuvering system pods for normal maintenance.

      In the Vehicle Assembly Building, stacking of the left solid rocket booster continues.
