      NOTE: The solid rocket boosters are out of the water at Hangar AF and open assessments are currently in work. Very early initial inspections indicate no evidence of pocketing or erosion in the booster's nozzles. The nozzles will be shipped to Thiokol in Utah on Saturday for thorough inspections and post-launch assessments.

      The crew of mission STS-82 retrieved the Hubble Space Telescope early this morning. Tonight, they will perform their first of four space walks to service the telescope.

      The mission STS-82 crew are: Commander Ken Bowersox; Pilot Scott Horowitz; Mission Specialists Joe Tanner, Steve Hawley, Greg Harbaugh, Mark Lee and Steve Smith.

      • MISSION DURATION: 15 days, 16 hours, 29 minutes
      • CREW: Halsell, Still, Voss, Thomas, Gernhardt, Linteris, Crouch
      • ORBITAL ALTITUDE and INCLINATION: 184 statute miles/28.45 degrees

      NOTE: The spacelab transfer tunnel was installed overnight and leak checks are in work today. The right hand orbital maneuvering system pod has also been installed and cross-feed connections are complete. The crew of mission STS-83 is scheduled to arrive this weekend for the crew equipment and interface test.

      NOTE: Functional checks of the orbital maneuvering system are in work today. Removal of the left hand pod is under review due to concerns with the engine actuator controller. Removal of the FRCS was completed last weekend. Auxiliary power unit No. 3 has been replaced and securing of the new APU is in work today. Stacking of the solid rocket boosters for mission STS-84 will continue tonight in the VAB.

      STS-84 SCHEDULED OPERATIONAL MILESTONES (dates are target only):

      * Mate external tank to solid rocket boosters (Feb. 27)
      * Install forward reaction control system (March 6)
      * Begin installation of Space Shuttle main engines (March 6)
