      NOTE:Initial post-launch assessments of the solid rocket boosters are being conducted at Hangar AF. Early reports indicate the nozzles show no signs of erosion. The booster nozzles are planned for transport back to Utah on Friday for more detailed post-flight analysis. Also, it was determined that one of three parachutes on the left-hand booster failed to inflate during descent. The booster sustained no damage as a result of this occurrence.

      NOTE: The Shuttle interface verification test continues in the VAB. Discovery is scheduled to be rolled out to Pad 39A with first motion set for 7 a.m., Friday, Jan. 17. Discovery's launch date remains under review. A launch date of up to two days earlier is being considered.

      NOTE: Work is underway to remove the right hand orbital maneuvering system pod next week. Water spray boilers are being serviced this week as auxiliary power unit leak and functional checks continue. Stacking of the right hand solid rocket booster in the Vehicle Assembly Building continues. The left booster stack is complete.

      • Install Space Shuttle main engines (Jan. 27)
