      NOTE: The Flight Readiness Review is underway today at KSC as managers meet to discuss mission events and launch criteria. A firm launch date is expected to be issued following the review later this afternoon. At the pad, installation of the payloads into the orbiter’s payload bay will continue today with electrical hook-ups scheduled for Saturday. The space suits were installed into the orbiter’s airlock yesterday and a functional check is underway today. This weekend, workers will remove and replace the solid rocket booster nozzle plugs from the SRBs at the pad.

      NOTE: Installation of the Space Shuttle main engines was interrupted yesterday when the vehicle used to installed the engines developed a problem. Engines No. 1 and 3 were successfully installed but engine No. 2 will be installed this weekend. Preparations continue for the installation of the Microgravity Science Laboratory into the payload bay on Saturday. Also, the right hand orbital maneuvering system pod will be delivered to the OPF tomorrow for installation on the orbiter next week. In the Vehicle Assembly Building, the external tank is being mated with the solid rocket boosters today.

      • Install Microgravity Science Laboratory into orbiter's payload bay (Feb. 1)
      • Begin OMS pod installation (Feb. 2)

      NOTE: The Spacehab double module was removed yesterday and transported to the Space Station Processing Facility in preparation for its next flight in May. Preparations are also underway to remove and replace auxiliary power unit No. 3 this weekend.
