NOTE: Columbia continues to orbit the earth in excellent condition, providing a stable platform for the continuous science investigations on board.

NOTE: In the VAB, orbiter/external tank interface leak checks will conclude today. Functional testing of the liquid oxygen 17-inch disconnect are complete and the Shuttle Interface Test will wrap up today. Discovery is slated to roll out to Pad 39A on Monday beginning at about 2 a.m.
At pad 39A (image), the CRISTA-SPAS payload was moved to the payload ground handling mechanism. It will be installed into the orbiter’s cargo bay on Tuesday.
STS-85 SCHEDULED OPERATIONAL MILESTONES (dates are target only):
STS-86 -- 7th MIR DOCKING & SPACEHAB DM
NOTE: Functional tests of the orbiter docking system are complete and upper hatch testing is in work today. Shuttle main engine heat shield installation is in work through Monday and close-outs on Atlantis’ newly installed fuel cells continue. Orbiter inspections necessary for Atlantis’ upcoming structural test will continue through next week.
A routine, three-week modal test (structural test) begins on the vehicle July 21. Because the test requires the orbiter’s midbody to be closed for flight, the midbody portion of the Crew Equipment Interface Test (CEIT) will occur on Monday. The forward portion of the CEIT is scheduled for July 26.
STS-86 SCHEDULED OPERATIONAL MILESTONES (dates are target only):
STS-89 -- 8th MIR DOCKING & SPACEHAB DMNOTE: Modifications to the orbiter’s elevon coves will pick up on Monday. Functional testing of the atmospheric revitalization pressure control system are scheduled through next Wednesday and removal of the liquid oxygen 17-inch disconnect will conclude on Monday. Docking mechanism installation is slated for next week.
