NOTE: The Shuttle helium signature test was successfully concluded over the weekend and payload interface verification testing will conclude today. Preparations continue for loading hypergolic propellants on Thursday. The astronauts arrived at KSC Sunday evening for the Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test (TCDT) which is scheduled to begin on Tuesday at 8 a.m. and conclude Wednesday at 11 a.m. The crew will be on the flight deck for the last three hours of the test as is customary. The TCDT is an electrical test of the Space Shuttle vehicle and a procedural exercise for the launch team and astronauts.
STS-85 SCHEDULED OPERATIONAL MILESTONES (dates are target only):
STS-86 -- 7th MIR DOCKING & SPACEHAB DMNOTE: The payload bay doors are closed for the modal (structural) test which began Sunday and will be completed today. The thermal protection tiles for the forward reaction control system are being installed and the Shuttle's aft engine compartment close-outs continue in work. The crew hatch is closed for the cabin leak checks also scheduled for today. Close-outs of the crew cabin will resume tonight.
In the VAB, solid rocket booster stacking operations are complete and external tank/SRB mate activities are scheduled for Thursday.
STS-86 SCHEDULED OPERATIONAL MILESTONES (dates are target only):
STS-87 -- U.S. MICROGRAVITY PAYLOAD-4NOTE: Preparations for removing the MSL-1 Spacelab module will begin tomorrow after the payload bay doors are opened. Time critical experiments were removed on Friday. The orbiter's residual cryogenic reactants were off-loaded over the weekend.
STS-89 -- 8th MIR DOCKING & SPACEHAB DM
NOTE: Removal and repair of the liquid oxygen 17-inch disconnect is in work. The hydraulic systems are also being tested today.
