NOTE: The Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test (TCDT) concluded successfully today at Pad 39A. The astronauts began boarding Discovery about 8:15 a.m. and left the flight deck shortly after the simulated T-0 at 11 a.m.
Yesterday, in addition to safety training, the crew inspected CRISTA-SPAS in Discovery's payload bay. Thermal conditioning of the CRISTA-SPAS telescopes is complete in preparation for servicing them with cryogenic helium next week.
The orbiter's potable water system is being sampled today and the inertial measurement units are to be calibrated tonight. Discovery's payload bay doors will be closed tonight in preparation for loading hypergolic propellants aboard the Space Shuttle on Thursday.
STS-85 SCHEDULED OPERATIONAL MILESTONES (dates are target only):
STS-86 -- 7th MIR DOCKING & SPACEHAB DMNOTE: A payload bay door hinge is being replaced today. This work will be followed by retest cycles of the payload bay doors. Potable water servicing is also being performed today. Mass Memory Unit #1 is being removed and replaced, and the thermal protection tiles for the forward reaction control system are being installed. The Shuttle's aft engine compartment and crew module close-outs continue in work. The final portion of the Crew Equipment Interface Test (CEIT) is scheduled for Saturday. In the VAB, external tank/SRB mate activities are scheduled for Thursday.
STS-86 SCHEDULED OPERATIONAL MILESTONES (dates are target only):
STS-87 -- U.S. MICROGRAVITY PAYLOAD-4NOTE: The payload bay doors are open and preparations to remove the MSL-1 Spacelab module are in work. The laboratory will be removed on Monday and returned to the Operations and Checkout Building. The tunnel adapter will be removed tomorrow. The draining of residual hypergolic fuels is scheduled for tonight. A routine functional test of the forward reaction control system is scheduled for later this week.

NOTE: Hydraulic systems tests are in work through early next week. Work to remove the liquid oxygen 17-inch disconnect continues. Water spray boiler testing and hydraulic system servicing continue. The Ku-band system antenna will be installed tomorrow.
