NOTE: Columbia is hard mated to the external fuel tank and solid rocket boosters and ordnance installation is in work. Preparations are in work for functional tests of the tail service mast. Rework on spliced wires in the Shuttle's avionics bay 4 will begin this weekend and electrical evaluations of a controller check-out unit for auxiliary power unit No. 2 will pick-up on Monday. Evaluations of the FRCS tiles on the other orbiters continue as managers seek to better understand the cracked tiles seen on Columbia last week.

NOTE: Heat shield installation is in work today. Mid-body close-outs continue on schedule. Inspections of the thermal protection tiles on the orbiter's forward reaction control system are in work. The external tank umbilical doors have been undergoing cycling tests for several weeks so engineers could study bent bolts on one door's hinge fixtures. Yesterday, stronger bolts were installed to prevent future bolt deformation. Solid rocket booster stacking operations continue in the VAB.

NOTE: Atlantis' main engines were removed last night. Forward reaction control system trickle purge activities are complete. Inspections of the thermal protection tiles on the FRCS are also complete. Preparations are underway for removal and replacement of fuel cell No. 3, scheduled to begin on Monday. Spacehab tunnel inspections are also underway.

NOTE: Endeavour has been placed on jacks and leveled in OPF bay 1. Technicians are gaining access to the orbiter's payload bay with strong back installation complete. Processing work will now begin for Endeavour's next mission, STS-89.
