STS-86 -- 7th MIR DOCKING & SPACEHAB DM
NOTE: Mission managers tonight decided to waive off the two landing opportunities at KSC for Shuttle mission STS-86. The first opportunity, at 6:58 p.m., was forecasted to have low cloud cover and the threat of cross winds gusting above landing criteria. At about 7:15 p.m., NASA flight controllers opted to waive the second landing opportunity due to similar concerns and wait until Monday to bring Atlantis and her seven member crew home to Florida.
Monday's landing times at KSC are at 5:55 p.m. and 7:31 p.m. EDT, with a deorbit burn occurring about one hour before touchdown. Edwards Air Force Base, CA offers two opportunities at 9:01 p.m. and 10:37 p.m. EDT. Weather forecasters expect generally favorable conditions at KSC to support a Monday landing.
