
STS-87 -- U.S. MICROGRAVITY PAYLOAD-4
NOTE: Payload premate tests continue through tonight. Preparations for the fuel cell voltage test on Thursday continue. Efforts to close out work on the orbiter's elevons are about halfway complete and Columbia's aft compartment close-outs are under way.
STS-87 SCHEDULED OPERATIONAL MILESTONES (dates are target only):
STS-89 -- 8th MIR DOCKING & SPACEHAB DM
NOTE: The right-hand orbital maneuvering system (OMS) pod was installed on Endeavour yesterday and electrical mates were completed this morning. Functional tests of the orbiter's forward reaction control system continue. Engineers began preparations today for Endeavour's upcoming fuel cell monitoring modifications. Checks of the main propulsion system continue. Solid rocket booster stacking operations continue in the VAB.
STS-89 SCHEDULED OPERATIONAL MILESTONES (dates are target only):
STS-91 -- 9th MIR DOCKING & SPACEHAB-SMNOTE: Discovery is in storage in VAB high bay 2 with the environmental control system purge equipment connected. The orbiter will remain in temporary storage until Oct. 27.
NOTE: Inspections of Atlantis' main engines are complete. Draining of the orbiter's residual cryogenics will conclude today. The payload bay doors will be opened Thursday to support SPACEHAB and tunnel removal slated for Saturday. Shuttle main engine removal is scheduled for Monday. Preparations for Atlantis' ferry flight to Palmdale, Calif., for the scheduled orbiter maintenance down period (OMDP) will follow in the weeks to come.
