
STS-86 -- 7th MIR DOCKING & SPACEHAB DM
NOTE: The transfer of the Spacehab payload into Columbia's cargo bay is complete and electrical connections are in work. Mating of the orbiter midbody umbilical unit and subsequent leak checks are also complete. Technicians will complete installation of the pyrotechnic canister assemblies in the orbiter's aft compartment tomorrow. The crew for this mission arrived at KSC last night and are preparing for tomorrow's Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test. The STS-86 Flight Readiness Review begins at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and Shuttle managers are expected to announce the official launch date at the meeting's conclusion.
STS-86 SCHEDULED OPERATIONAL MILESTONES (dates are target only):
STS-87 -- U.S. MICROGRAVITY PAYLOAD-4NOTE: Servicing of Columbia's freon coolant loop No. 2 and oxidizer cross-feed line leak checks are complete. Fuel cell monitoring modifications continue in the orbiter's midbody. Work to waterproof the Shuttle's thermal protection system was completed yesterday and window polishing continues. STS-87 booster assembly operations continue in the Vehicle Assembly Building and stacking of the left hand SRB segments begins tomorrow.
STS-89 -- 8th MIR DOCKING & SPACEHAB DM
NOTE: Installation of the cryogenic heater controller was completed on Saturday. Installation of Endeavour's auxiliary power unit No. 1 continues. Fuel cell and power reactant storage and distribution system testing is in work through Tuesday. Tomorrow, technicians will replace the final oxidizer transducer on Endeavour's forward reaction control system in the Hypergol Maintenance Facility.
STS-91 -- 9th MIR DOCKING & SPACEHAB-SMNOTE: Preparations continue for removal of the Shuttle's main engines tonight. Functional tests of Discovery's forward reaction control system continue through Friday.
