NOTE: Following the STS-99 Orbiter Rollout Review this afternoon, Shuttle managers postponed Orbiter Endeavour's transfer to the VAB to no earlier than Wednesday morning. The schedule change accommodates further inspection of electrical wiring in orbiters Columbia and Atlantis. A Wednesday morning rollover will not impact Endeavour's Sept. 16 target launch date.

Post-flight inspection of the electrical wiring for Columbia's failed main engine controllers revealed that the electrical short that occurred five seconds after liftoff of mission STS-93 last month was caused by electrical contact or arching between a chaffed wire and a marred screw head. Managers are confident that the wire became chaffed after repeated contact with the screw head over 26 Shuttle flights and 20 ferry flights. Tomorrow afternoon, managers will reconvene to review the data and to determine whether routine wire protection procedures implemented on Shuttle Endeavour meet safety of flight requirements.
