Work in progress: At Launch Pad 39B, preparations to replace Shuttle Discovery's dented main propulsion system liquid hydrogen recirculation line are complete. This morning, engineers reviewed the work plan with technicians, and efforts to disconnect the damaged line are proceeding on schedule. The current plan has workers removing the damaged line tonight and installing the new line early Saturday morning. A series of inspections and leak checks are scheduled through the weekend including a hydrogen system Helium Signature Test Saturday night. If all goes as planned, workers will close out Discovery's engine compartment for flight on Monday and the launch countdown will begin on Tuesday at 1:30 a.m. EST.
Work in progress: In the Vehicle Assembly Building, preparations to roll Shuttle Endeavour out to Launch Pad 39A are ongoing. Main propulsion system leak checks are scheduled today. Endeavour's roll to the pad is slated to begin at about 7 a.m. Monday. The remainder of the STS-99 prelaunch work schedule is being reviewed due to the recent engine replacement and in order to accommodate STS-103 processing efforts.
