STS-93 -- Chandra X-ray Observatory
NOTE: Workers completed hydraulic close-outs on Columbia's solid rocket boosters on Wednesday. Following yesterday's observance of Super Safety and Health Day, workers today resumed normal launch preparation activities at Launch Pad 39B.
In the Vertical Processing Facility, the Chandra/IUS payload is being installed into the payload transportation canister today. However, delivery of the payload to Pad 39B has been rescheduled for Tuesday, June 22. In the payload changeout room at the pad, a roller associated with the telescoping payload ground handling mechanism has failed and must be repaired. Contingency time is available at the pad for Chandra and there is no impact to the targeted July 20 launch date.
