| NOTE |
| Shuttle managers are
now preparing to launch Space Shuttle Atlantis Friday, May 19 at about 6:12 a.m.,
following an Air Force decision to postpone by 24 hours tonight's planned launch of the
Atlas III at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. Under prior agreement with Air Force
range operations, NASA launch managers agreed to slip launch of Atlantis 24 hours if the
Atlas III invoked their option to attempt launch on Wednesday, May 17. As a result, NASA
will insert an additional 23 ½ hours into the STS-101 countdown at the T-11 hour built-in
hold and plan launch for May 19. Weather forecasters are currently
predicting only a 10 percent chance of weather violating launch constraints on Friday. The
only concern is for possible fog.
