Shuttle Processing Note
At Pad 39-B, loading of Space Shuttle Endeavour with liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen propellants began at 2:52 p.m. this afternoon about two hours behind schedule. During the final pad walkdown late this morning, a loose bracket was noted on the side of the white room. This bracket holds in place a firex system water line that leads across the orbiter access arm to the fixed service structure. There was concern that this bracket and an associated U-bolt could break loose during launch and damage the Space Shuttle, particularly the left wing of Endeavour. A decision was made to remove the loose bracket and U-bolt before tanking began. An extendable high-reach boom with attached bucket was taken to the surface of the pad to provide worker access. The loose hardware was removed without difficulty. There have been no other significant issues in the countdown during the past 24-hours requiring unplanned work by the launch team.

Weather officials indicate a 0 percent chance of weather prohibiting launch tonight. The forecast calls for clouds to be scattered at 4,000 - 7,000 feet and scattered at 25,000 - 28,000 feet; visibility at 7 - 10 miles; winds at the launch pad from the north at 10 peaking to 16 knots and winds at the Shuttle Landing Facility from the north-northeast at 10 peaking to 15 knots; temperature at 52 degrees F; dewpoint at 45 degrees F; relative humidity at 77 percent. The chance of weather criteria violation on Friday is 10 percent and on Saturday 20 percent.
