Space Shuttle Endeavour and a five-member astronaut crew lifted off from KSC's Launch Pad 39B on time today at 10:06:01 p.m. EST. The KSC launch team worked no significant issues in the final hours of the countdown and a flawless launch began a crucial STS-97 mission to provide early power to the International Space Station. This marks the 101st mission in Space Shuttle history and the 25th night launch.
The two solid rocket booster recovery ships, Freedom Star and Liberty Star, deployed into the Atlantic Ocean Wednesday, Nov. 29 at about 3 p.m. Depending upon the progress of recovery operations and weather conditions, the ships are expected to return to Port Canaveral Saturday afternoon with boosters in tow.
